We're having a sale!

Tiffiny's has soo many books, this week (July 3-8), ALL hardcover books are 50% off. Since most of our hardcovers are $4, that's a great deal! If you look to the right side of the screen, there's a link for Tiffiny's Book List, scroll through and see what a selection we have of books.

As for July's movies, a customer suggested Johnny Depp month, but I had trouble finding five good Depp movies, so I found five recent, 4-star movies for the line-up. We're starting with 'Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day'...

I know, shame on me!

The year is almost half over! Amazing how quickly time passes...

My book list shows I have 2,705 books in stock, so even you should be able to find something. Granted not all are on the shelves, I just don't have the room, but if you see something on the list you want, let me know and I'll bring it in.

This month is all Cary Grant movies and there are so many, I'm showing them on Friday as usual, and Saturday at 4:00pm. Today is 'Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House' with Myrna Loy...and tomorrow 'Bringing Up Baby' with Katherine Hepburn...

It happened again...

This past weekend, my super dad brought 54 boxes of books. There is a plethora of all kinds ~ philosophy, memoirs/biographies, fiction, kid's books (which I'm unloading at 10 for $1), faith-based, science and lots of Frommer travel books. We also have over 100 VHS tapes, each $2.

If I don't have a book that you're looking for, let me know and if I can get it, there's a $3 charge for paperbacks and $5 charge for hardcovers.

Friday's movie is Dr. Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb with Peter Sellers, George C. Scott, Peter Sellers, Sterling Hayden, Peter Sellers and Keenan Wynn.

Support local artists!

Several of my customers are showing their creative talent at Tiffiny's.

Joyce is crochetinging the cutest hats, for babies and kids...
Each hat can be custom-made in your choice of size and color for $20.00.

Dee not only takes amazing black and white pet photos, but has started a series of local flora and fauna through the seasons and put them on note cards ~ just stunning...
Each set of eight cards is printed on high-quality paper in an organza bag for $10.00.

Bill, in his spare time, creates amazing chimes using recycled materials...
You pick the color and size, each is $125. (This set is not available for sale.)

Don't forget, Pam of Rescue Me Pet Rescue has her hand-made lotions and potions here, too.

And, of course, there's a great selection of books, some movies (vhs and dvd) and music cds.

This week's movie ends Bruce Willis month with the hilarious 'Blind Date', also starring Kim Basinger and John Larroquette.

...and more books!

Yup, we got another twelve boxes of books and are expecting even more next week. While the selection is still predominately fiction, there's a good choice of cookbooks, children's books (an unbeatable deal at 3 for free, then 25 cents each), and faith-based. I'm really trying for more sci-fi as well.

While we're on the subject of books: it's interesting to me that of all the obscure computer apps that exist, I was unable to find one that will track read books. For fans of voracious writers who's books all have similar story-lines, like Patterson, Grisham, Clancy, and Roberts, a mobile program to note books read and those needed would be a very handy tool.

Now, I read more than most, though not as much as I used to (having three jobs monopolizes a lot of my time), but still, at least a couple books a week. A couple of years ago, I started keeping a book diary: title, author, dates started and finished, summary and what I thought; I have to say, it's something I wish I had done from day one. It's fascinating to look back (even a couple of years) to what I was reading and how each book affected me.

Tiffiny's got books!

Great thanks to a friend of mine who gathered over 20 boxes of books ~ some faith-based and fiction, but mostly non-fiction: cookbooks, biographies, art, psychology, etc. So, if you're looking for new reading material, come by and check out the biggest used book store in Big Bear...

And, huger thanks to my dad for loaning me his 4-wheel drive Jeep for the winter - yippee!

For those who expressed concern for my sweet, rotten Dirk, he's doing great, just eating very small portions for the time:-)!

Are you ready?!

Well, the National Weather Service is forecasting a 'significant' amount of snow in the next 24 hours and recommending everyone ensure they have plenty of bottled water and food stores ~ it's quite a winter we're having. On the bright side, shoveling is good for the arms.

Tiffiny's, like most businesses in Big Bear, is really struggling. I am very blessed to have consistent, generous and kind customers; like Kyle and Nora, and Marlena who have given me lots of firewood; Nicole has helped with my errands whenever possible; Bill, Craig, Dale, Jack, Lisa, Mike, and Mike who each come just about every day despite the goings-on in their own lives. Thank you so much!

This month's tips will be donated to Reading is Fundamental, a program through DonorsChoose.org to provide reading books to pre-k - 2nd grade kids in a high poverty CA school.

This week's movie is 'The Fisher King', a fantastic movie with Robin Williams and Jeff Bridges.
